Sacrificing for the Art?

Comments

I used to vote at Stroud's Mattress Showroom. A Showroom! It made democracy so much more festive.

I now vote at a tennis club in Beverly Hills - not a fair exchange at all.

I do love community theater. I was involved in Oregon for a few years. Yeah no money, but if it is in your blood it is worth it.

It was raining when I went to vote, but at least I had a paved parking lot. We voted at the fire department. Me and maybe one other democrat in this county. lol

I think it's wonderful that you do community theatre. It makes the theatre more accessible to people who otherwise can't afford to go to the 90$ broadway seats. People love stories and the fact that community theatre brings the art closer to the everyday-you-and-me, is a great thing. I think it can also potentially bring a little humanity back into the local populous; it's so much better than an expensive movie too!

At least you didn't have to wait in line! Of course, if the other guy didn't vote for the same candidate, you just cancelled each other out. :->

And trust me, they're not getting a $90 performance, either. I'm hope they get at least the $10 worth that they paid.

Still had to wait in line A-K then L-Z no matter which party. Then once you sign in they ask which party. Of course I spoke up nice and loud. lol

I participate in the Honolulu Community Concert Band. I don't get paid, AND they ask for donation each rehearsal. Luckily for me, rehearsal is only once a week.

Then once you sign in they ask which party.

Oh, for both parties. That doesn't help, then.

Ahhh... another Thespian of the Community, huh? I know when my husband was involved in plays I spent a LOT of time at home waiting for him to get back from rehearsals... WOW... what fun that was! Yikes!
That's why Strix likes me being involved in this. It keeps me out of her hair.

Community theatre is definitely an effort of love for doing what you do, hahaha. I miss it, even though dealing with younger "co-stars" and older know-it-alls can be a pain in the arse.

This is how it feels writing music, and posting it free for everyone.

-Yes, I don't make ANY money from it (unless someone wants a CD) but we do it because we LOVE it.

Sacrifice for the love of the art.

My sister did the full time nursing job with community theatre at night, I don't know how she did it, nonstop for years. It's pretty cool though, being involved in an art form and benefiting the community at the same time. Good Karma.

The director for the play I'm in next week is a full-time nurse working nights, too. Must be something about nursing. :->
